'Living a Nightmare': Relatives of Missing Teenagers Await Answers After Alpine Inferno

16-year-old Swiss national a young man from Switzerland is listed as missing.

The relatives of young people unaccounted for after a tragic inferno at a bar in a Switzerland's ski resort are confronting an excruciating wait for answers and requesting any details about their family members online.

The inferno ripped through the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the mountains of the Valais region, in the small hours of January 1st. Confirmed images show the ceiling igniting as bottles with sparklers are held aloft.

Officials have indicated that it could take days if not weeks to identify the victims of the tragedy, which killed 40 people and injured another 119. Officials noted on the latest update that 113 of the injured have been accounted for, with the process continuing to name the final individuals.

In the meantime, relatives have been posting on online platforms to request any news about their missing relatives who were in attendance that night.

Appeals for the Missing

The location of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are currently unknown, according to an appeal from his parent.

The resident of Lutry near the city, explained to a publication that she had returned to the city to check whether he was in the medical facility, while his other parent did the same in Bern, but could not find him.

"It feels like a terrible dream, an ordeal. Either I find my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in critical condition. Words cannot describe it," she stated.

She added that some of his friends had been discovered with injuries covering nearly half their bodies. "There are no words; they went through hell."

The Italy's foreign ministry has said that a number of of its nationals have not been located.

Young athlete Emanuele Galeppini, 16, was last in contact around midnight on December 31st, his father said.

Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old sportsman, originally from Genoa but now living in Dubai.

The national sporting body has stated that he is dead, without mentioning the tragedy, honoring a "young athlete who embodied dedication and authentic values."

His father, is quoted as saying that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around the new year. An official spokesperson has stated that a official announcement of his death is still pending.

Further Cases

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also among the missing. His mother told reporters that he had been on vacation but had ventured out with friends and ended up at the bar.

"A close friend informed me they escaped after the fire started and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a specific moment he they were separated," she said, adding he had been wearing a identifiable piece of jewelry.

One of his educators stated, "I remember his good nature and positive demeanor, combined with great maturity. Often offer to get me a coffee."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Greek and Swiss citizenship but lives permanently in Switzerland, was also present on New Year's Eve, according to reports.

Her brother has published an appeal on social media, saying the relatives has had "no news" regarding the 15-year-old or the group she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Officials from her country of origin say they are actively engaged with the situation.
